Abstract
"Mixed flow pumps are centrifugal pumps that incorporate characteristics from axial and radial pumps into order to generate high flow rates and high discharge pressure. They are widely used in agriculture, hydroelectric power plants, chemical processing, and in other industries that use machinery to transport fluids. Mixed-flow pump technology poses one of the most challenging aspects for the application of numerical methods, especially when it comes to transient flow within rotating machinery. Due to recent developments in high-performance computing and advanced numerical algorithms, computational fluid dynamics is increasingly being used to design and optimize mixed flow pumps for higher efficiency and performance to meet the growing industry demand for higher reliability, longer lifecycle, and enhanced anti-cavitation properties in a pump."-- Provided by publisher.
