"Translanguaging refers to the complex and varied ways that bilingual and multilingual individuals navigate their academic, professional, and other social situations by utilizing all of their language skills in flexible and creative ways. Originally the result of research which examined pedagogy for students in bilingual classrooms, the dynamic research area of translanguaging has grown to encompass questions in language use and learning across the wider field of applied linguistics.
