Özet:
"Lichen, a single entity but with two or more different organisms in a symbiotic relationship mainly algae and fungus. Lichen is one of the most dominant flora, with approx. 25,000 species distributed from the tropics to arctic regions of the globe. Hundreds of bioactive secondary metabolites and phytochemicals have been discovered from the lichen which are an important source of modern medicines and variety of lead compounds. Lichens are used for various therapeutic purposes all over the world. Due to increased instances of drug resistance during the last few decades, the evaluation of pharmacological potential and phytochemical composition of lichen thallus has become an area of medical research. Furthermore, controlling air pollution is a challenge for humanity, as lichens are natural bio-indicators, their role in pollution control is another aspect of modern-day research. There is a long history of lichen use in perfume and cosmetics industry. It is important to explore such plant-based product for human wellbeing"-- Provided by publisher.
